DII-Global Europe is a Brussels-based non-profit continuing two decades of independent journalism from the Donetsk Institute of Information. We monitor foreign information manipulation, publish verified research, and convene the people who need the facts.
DII-Global Europe (Vereniging zonder winstoogmerk / Association sans but lucratif) is the European continuation of the Donetsk Institute of Information — an organisation that has produced independent media, trained journalists and documented the war against Ukraine since 2009. Registered in Belgium in 2024, we now bring that experience to the heart of the European Union.
Our work sits at the intersection of journalism, open-source research and public policy. We believe that in an era of industrial-scale disinformation, accurate, well-sourced information is a form of security — for democracies, for alliances, and for the people who defend them.
We keep the toolkit small and the standards high: monitor what is being manipulated, answer it with verified facts, and bring the right audiences into the room.
We track foreign information manipulation and disinformation targeting Ukraine, the EU and the transatlantic relationship, using open-source methods.
We publish sourced research briefs and factual rebuttals — turning raw signals into material policymakers and journalists can actually use.
We run Brussels briefings and closed-door sessions that connect policymakers, journalists and business leaders around shared, verified facts.
Our flagship initiative is an independent, journalist-led analytical center identifying information manipulation aimed at the U.S.–EU relationship — and countering it with verified, data-driven stories of transatlantic innovation, energy security and shared prosperity.
